Even if you played last year you must register to play in 2019.

ELIGIBILITY:
1) Residency and School Attendance Eligibility

In an effort to accommodate for Little Leaguers to play with their classmates, and ease the burden on parents and guardians, Little League has amended its residency requirements to allow children to play in the local league whose boundaries where they attend school is located. To verify enrollment, parents will need to bring an official school document, such as a report card or school enrollment form, confirming enrollment in the school for the current academic year, dated before October 1, 2018.

If this is your first year in Rye Little League, you must upload a copy during registration online or send a photocopy of a Legal Birth Certificate or a Passport to: Melissa Wolf 24 thorne Place Rye, NY 10580 or an emailed copy to . A Birth Certificate or passport must be on file before a player is eligible.

4)If a player does not attend at least 50 percent of his or her games, Rye Little League can prohibit the player from participation the following year or in tournament.

5)Participation in the Spring Season is required for registration in the Summer or Fall Seasons.

SCHEDULE:
1) Practices will begin in mid-March and the regular season will conclude by the end of June. Generally teams play one weekday evening game and one Saturday game each week, although Major League teams may play three games in certain weeks. Major and Intermediate rain outs will be played on Sundays.

2) Rye will field a tournament team in each of the Major League and Intermediate League levels after the local season ends. These teams will be selected by the Board of Rye Little League based upon player and coach voting and will compete during July and August in their respective Little League World Series Tournaments. Only 11-year-old players in the Major League will be eligible for the 11-year-old Tournament team; 11 year old players in the Intermediate League are not eligible for the Tournament team.

TRYOUTS:
All
eligible players who register on time will play Little League baseball in one of the three leagues: Majors, Intermediates, Minors (i.e., there are no cuts).

A player’s age on September 1, 2019 is his or her Little League age for all seasons this year (spring, summer and fall). Players may not necessarily be playing on the same team as last year.

  • All 7-, 8- and 9-year-olds will play in the Minor League.
  • 9 year olds hoping to play in the Intermediate League are welcome to attend Tryouts in the afternoon from 12:30pm-2pm,. Limited spots will be available. Tryouts date TBD in February.

  • 10 year old players are welcome to tryout for the Majors. If not selected they will play in the Intermediate League. It is not mandatory for 10 year old players to tryout. However if a 10 year old player cannot make the tryout but would like to be eligible for the draft they MUST EMAIL president @ryelittleleague.com BEFORE THE TRYOUTS.

  • Players who are 11-years-old must attend the 20-minute tryout to be drafted onto a Major League team

  • If an 11-year-old tries out and is not selected in the Majors he/she will play for the Intermediate League.

  • Depending upon registrations, more than half of the 11-year-olds will play in the Intermediate League while some will play in the Major League. Selections to the Major League are made via a "draft" by the Major League teams. Selection is based on prior League play, athletic ability, and baseball skills at the tryout. While 11-year-old players are sometimes initially disappointed if they don’t make a Major League team, most find that the Intermediate League experience is very rewarding with more playing time than they would have in the Major League and a chance to play positions they would not be able to play in the Major League
  • Players who were in the Majors last year do not need to attend a tryout.

  • Players who are 12-years-old and who are new to the Majors or new to Rye Little League need to tryout. This helps assess the players and insure they are drafted on an appropriate team.

  • All 12-year-olds play in the Major League.

  •
